Craigslist scam, what to do with the money order?

I have ALMOST fallen into the craigslist scam (the one from Nigeria). If I do receive the Post Office ‘money order’ what should I do with it? I know NOT to cash it, but would it be worth something to any authorities? Could I be a victim of identity theft because of this in the future?
Should mention that I have NOT shipped anything.

It’s a scam so i am going to assume that the money order wouldn’t be real or trace-able so, i would just go ahead and throw it out or shred it. If you only gave them your address, i don’t think they can do any identity theft with just your name and address, but i could be wrong. I had the same thing happen to me – "i am a buyer for my client" … jeez!!! Good luck!
