Has anyone here signed up for Lifelock to prevent identity theft?

Do you think that it is worth the money? Serious answers please.

  1. TDT says:

I have not signed up for this, nor would consider it. There are a few reasons why:

    1) It’s a monthly charge for something you could do roughly every 90 days for free (I’ll get into this more later)
    2) I can’t guarantee the security of this company, and while I don’t have a choice on my own personal information in many companies – signing up for another just seems pointless for me.

Lifelock seems to be more of a convenience thing for people, and if you feel the money is worth it then maybe it is…but for me it’s not. Why?

    - Protecting your credit – I did this once, because a CD with SSNs were stolen and mine was on it (although unidentified and they think it just went missing) – but I called the credit companies and put a lock on my credit. Any time an account is opened or anything changed – I’m notified by call first thing, and I have to OK it before it proceeds.
    - Protecting from spam – From calls, you have the Do not Call list, which is free to sign up to.
    - Protecting from spam – From mail. There are some nice guides that go over this..this response took awhile since I was reading how to do this..haha

    So there’s my reasons…I wouldn’t buy lifelock.
