How can you verify if a promotion on the Internet is a scam or not. For example yourtopbrands.com?

I’d stay away from ANY website that offers ANYTHING in return for personal information. It just can’t be good.
More generally, you can get some basic info about site through the McAfee site advisor. Nice tool – you put in a URL (i.e., yahoo.com) and it reports on whether the site does any known bad stuff. Site Advisor also tests email spamming by filling in email sign-in forms on the site and watching for what email comes in as a result. Try out the link.
