You can take many steps to protecting your identity, and insuring that it wont be stolen.
1. Create a personal/family security plan for identity protection
2. Have a stolen identity response plan
3. Use a credit monitoring service
4. Lock down your computer with good security software
5. Memorize your Social Security number
6. Conduct a security audit of your accountant
7. Beware of phishing
8. Beware of pharming
9. Beware of Phowning
10. File away your financial information securely and quickly
11. Complicate your passwords
12. Mind your email, and invest in a secure mailbox
