   1. Keep your social security number and bank account number safe
   2. If you lose your credit or debit cards, call the bank immediately
   3. Check your bills and bank statements regularly
   4. When using ATM cards, make sure no one is looking over your shoulder when you are entering your PIN
   5. Shred all sensitive documents before you dump them in the trash
