Many people are having this problem. It is not your computer. Do not change any settings. This happened in July and Nov 2008. The on-page buttons in Mail are not working properly. Yahoo knows about this. You will have to wait until they fix it. Click on FORUM at the left side of the Yahoo Answers Home Page.
